Several migrants at the garden and work traps overnight in Plymouth. At home, 97 RDP, Silver Y, RV & P.vitrealis among 149/19 The work trap had 27 RDP, Radford's, 2 DBM, 3 P.vitrealis, 3 White-speck, White-point & Angle Shades among 90/20. Also a Cosmopolitan found by a security light #teammoth

A Chocolate-tip in my work trap near Plymouth overnight was Devon's latest by over 2 months. 1 of 13 species at this trap. 18 species at home included a female Gem @migrantmothuk.bsky.social #teammoth

Following on from my first for Devon Dichomeris acuminatus on 2nd October, Phil Sterling has dissected the large Phycitodes sp that I also had on the same night in my Plymouth trap. It turned out to be a female Homeosoma nebulella, just the 2nd record for Devon after one in September 1987! #teammoth

A rather battered gelechid that came to my Plymouth garden trap on 2nd October has been confirmed by gendet as Dichomeris acuminatus. The 4th or 5th (pending a record in Sep from the Scillies) record for the UK. A Phycitodes sp caught on the same night is awaiting confirmation #teammoth

A good evening using wine ropes from our holiday cottage near Oban last night: 17 Angle Shades, 3 Pink-barred Sallow, 4 Square-spot Rustic, Sallow, Red-line Quaker, Chestnut, Dark Sword-grass and a lifer with Red Sword-grass. Much more productive than using lights! #teammoth

I found this sad remnant of a Striped Hawk-moth hanging by some webbing yesterday morning in my Plymouth garden. Probably a victim of the resident Magpie population that scours the garden most mornings. Fortunately for me, at least, not a year tick. #teammoth @migrantmothuk.bsky.social

I had my second Clepsis peritana in my Plymouth garden trap last night, possibly Devon's 3rd after my 1st on 8th July, followed by another caught by a moth-er a couple of days later near Exeter. #teammoth

A field trip with my sister to a SE Cornwall woodland last night gave us 719 of 122 species from 5 traps. A lifer with Triaxomera fulvimitrella & 25 other NFYs. An exhausting couple of hours processing that lot, especially when you've been awake for almost 24 hours! #teammoth

95 of 53 to my Plymouth garden trap overnight. Royal Mantle and Gypsonoma dealbana were NFY. The highlight was a gelechiid I potted up before bedtime, which turned out to be Exoteleia dodecella, a new species for me. #teammoth

A muggy 15°C @ 4.30 this morning brought 92 of 46 to my Plymouth garden trap overnight. 5 NFY, the best being a NFG Agrotera nemoralis, possibly a migrant or a wanderer from the nearby SE Cornwall population. C.striana, T.viridana, D.angustoriana & Large Yellow Underwing were the others #teammoth

I ran traps at home and in work overnight. Just 19 of 14 at home with Great Prominent, Vine's Rustic, Setaceous Hebrew Character & 3 Rusty-dot Pearl being highlights. The work trap held 40 of 16, with Tawny Pinion & Eyed Hawk-moth NFY. #teammoth

The traps have been pretty manic here in Plymouth this week. Lots of NFYs, but the best was this Privet Hawk-moth this morning in the work trap. My earliest by over a month, but what was special was that it was a f.lutea, where the pink colouration is replaced with yellow #teammoth
