WOW. Apparently, the former sheriff (Alex Villanueva) has been interviewing for a job for the LA Metro police. This is absolutely wild since he oversaw raiding Metro headquarters as part of an investigation many say as a political vendetta at the time (and which the Cal AG declined to prosecute).

Today at the LA City state of the city address, Mayor Karen Bass stated her intention to “cut red tape” in the LAPD hiring process in order to increase the number of LAPD officers. Later in the speech, Mayor Bass talked about the need for layoffs amid a severe budget crisis
