Today started off way too early after being up late for the super bowl last night, and now GitHub is having another outage? Should've stayed in bed.

Back in 2018 or so when I was in college, I drove up the coast of California on Highway 1 with my grandpa's old Nikon and shot a few rolls of film. Did a 105 mile bike ride, got married, and went on a mini-moon right after. Each of those events are pretty clear in my cardio load chart 👀. It was the longest break I’ve taken in a while, feels good to be back to a productive training state!

Over the weekend I saw some people at my gym nearly come to blows over the free paddle board rentals. I was happy in my kayak to watch the drama from a distance 🤣 Just another reason the kayak is superior to the paddle board!

The iPad mini is the perfect form factor for doing code reviews and catching up on messages while on a plane. I find myself using it more and more to get work done on the go! Shame the mini is so expensive, at least based on specs alone it feels pricey.

A year ago tomorrow I did my second longest bike ride (at the time) - 13 miles! Now a year later I’ve done multiple 100km rides and I’m getting ready to do 100 miles! Crazy how a year changes things.

Is LinkedIn just all AI-written content now? I used to think I was pretty good at detecting when something was AI written, but now it seems to me like literally everything is. Either I’m not as good at it as I thought, or it’s just all AI junk now. Even simple thoughts or comments seem to be all AI.

Worked on deploying a new service today. Exciting things coming regarding developer enablement! Side note, working on Docker builds and infrastructure stuff is one of my favorite use-cases for Github Copilot now. It did a great job working through some of the trickier bits with me.

I turned off Windsurf in VS Code today and went back to GitHub Copilot, and I'm blown away by how much better Copilot is! Was I just missing something with my Windsurf install? I know they have an IDE now, which I wasn't using. I'm surprised by how far Copilot has come since I last used it.

Looks like my problem here was using the edge runtime. Not sure exactly why the performance would degrade so much when it used to work well, but moving off the edge and turning on fluid compute seems to have my performance trending back up.

Last night we went to watch the Formula 1 movie! Thought it was pretty fun and enjoyable. Wasn't a big fan of the early storyline, but it improved IMO, and as an avid F1 fan, there wasn't anything that made me roll my eyes too much.

I've been seeing a steady degradation of my performance scores for keegan.codes on @vercel.com in the last few days, with no deployment changes on my end. I wonder what's going on 🤔. Traffic patterns seem fairly steady in the same period.

I'm continually grateful that I graduated when I did. A year's delay would have meant graduating mid-pandemic, and another year or so would have meant entering a really tough job market for software developers.

I've always been interested in building a feature-rich GitHub app, but never had a real reason to. Yesterday I started on a proof of concept for Kizen's new developer ecosystem, and a big part of it will be a GitHub app for managing plugin deployment and versioning. Going to be a fun project!

We opened a new office so I'm back in-person 3-4 days per week. It's been a pretty big adjustment already! How did I do this 5 days a week before 🤣

Feeling a bit under the weather after Render. Thankfully my immune system kept it together through 3 weeks of busy travel ending with my favorite conference of the year! Now I'll just need a few extra days of recovery.

I’m in the process right now of switching priorities from a project that’s wrapping up, to a brand-new one that I’m pretty excited about. It’s always a tough time though, going from something I’ve spent months grooming and planning to something new. Where to start?! 😱

If I see anyone posting AI-generated slop on LinkedIn, it’s an instant block now. I’m so tired of seeing so much AI-written or generated nonsense that’s neither correct nor useful.

The Apple Health platform is the primary thing keeping me in the Apple ecosystem right now. Every time I think about moving to Garmin for fitness tracking, or a different phone, I come back to Apple Health. There's just nothing else like it that's local-first, easily portable, and well-designed.

Big if true, but my faith in Apple's software quality is at rock bottom right now, so "less glitchy" may not really mean much.

Some of my best ever sleep and recovery numbers last night! No alcohol, a highly productive weekend (so no residual stress going into the week), and a relaxing Sunday with an early dinner all contributed. Now to replicate this during busy periods 😬

LinkedIn is so full of junk AI-written posts with coding "tips" riddled with typos or even straight up invalid syntax. I've been blocking people on sight who post nonsense like this but I fear it's a losing battle.
