I seem to be doing well this year in my garden for butterflies and day flying moths. Several Painted Ladies and Hummingbird Hawk-moths seen so far this year. This one currently on the lavender @bc-westmids.bsky.social

Early morning visit to @RSPBMiddleton. Nothing unusual other than a Green Sandpiper flushed from the mud under the bird feeders near the car park. Decent number of juvenile LRP at all stages from just hatched to fledged. Also at least three very young Lapwing and solitary Hare.

A 3 Garganey day at Slimbridge. Also 2 Spotted Redshanks and Blackwits in summer plumage, juv Spoonbill and 3 Green Sands.

Bluethroat showed well this morning ⁦‪⁦‪@WWTSlimbridge‬⁩ . Also 3 Cattle Egret and a vocal Cuckoo on TNP. Otherwise quiet.

Productive morning at #RSPBMiddleton Gropper + LSW heard. 3 x Common Sandpiper, several LRP, several Avocet and Redshank, Bittern, Kingfisher, 2 x Yellow Wagtail, Jack Snipe, Whitethroat, Red Kite, Reed/Sedge Warblers, 2/3 Curlew, lots of Sand Martins and distant Stork.

Early morning visit to #middletonlakes to see the Lesser-spotted Woodpecker. Excellent, prolonged views almost as soon as I arrived. A walk around the reserve after was quiet with the usual fare but did see Water Rail and Kingfisher. #Staffsbirdnews #ukbirds

Ridiculous close views of 5+ Hawfinches @ Parkend first thing. Several hours spent at New Fancy View only revealed several Crossbill. No sign of Goshawk in cold conditions.
