What makes this show work is how seriously the people involved take it. It's heavy on green screen and cheaply dressed sets, and they lean into the campiness and really push the video game aesthetic, but they also use good actors. Really good. Bad acting would make the whole thing fall apart.

Why am I just now finding out there's a new official Yakuza/Like a Dragon show on YouTube? Only watched a little so far, but it's already a million times better than the Amazon show, even though it's obviously super low budget. The creators are definitely fans of the games.
