Recently in numeracy, we’ve been focusing on developing our multiplication skills. Today, we enjoyed playing a board game to help strengthen and reinforce our learning. ♟️🎲

The class created this amazing display inspired by our class novel Framed by Frank Cottrell Boyce. Everyone spray-painted the frames, created pointillism artwork, and mapped famous art heists with QR-linked presentations. Fantastic teamwork all around!🖼️🖌️

In Art, we are exploring the next movement in time — Postmodernism!🎨🖌️We’ve taken inspiration from the work of Vincent van Gogh to create our own unique pieces of art.🖼️ Students have enjoyed experimenting with colour, texture, and emotion in their creations.🧑‍🎨

In Numeracy, we have also been putting our rounding and estimating skills to good use in a fun group card game! Students worked together to use quick thinking, teamwork, and strategy while practising their maths skills.🃏👏🏼

Recently in Numeracy, we’ve been practicing our rounding and estimating skills. We used a number wheel to generate numbers, then challenged ourselves to round them and record our answers accurately. Everyone has been working hard and growing more confident with their number sense!🎡😄

Last week, we boosted our writing skills by exploring synonyms for different adjectives in groups. Then, after some fun, fast-paced thesaurus races, we used our new vocabulary to enhance and polish our stories!✏️🌟

We have been taking part in the BBC 500 Words Writing Challenge! 🖋️✨ Everyone has been busy crafting imaginative stories, developing unique characters, and exploring exciting settings — all within just 500 words! The class has shown wonderful enthusiasm, originality, and storytelling talent. 📚🌟

During Term 1 Numeracy, we had lots of fun strengthening our addition and subtraction skills through interactive Kahoot quizzes!🎯💪🏼

As we began exploring our class novel Framed by Frank Cottrell Boyce, we gathered information about the main character and the setting to deepen our understanding of the story.

Last term in numeracy, we explored place value to help us become more confident with addition and subtraction. We had fun using a random number generator to make two-, three-, and four-digit numbers and used them to practise our skills!

As part of funday we had the opportunity to meet Binfluencer, one of Falkirk Council’s new monster trucks for waste management!💪 Powered by HVO, a renewable fuel made from waste oils, it’s helping cut emissions and reduce diesel use. ♻️

Today we had an absolute blast on the inflatables as part of funday!🤗🏰🛝

Today we explored the Titanic by investigating buoyancy. 🛟 We tested classroom objects to see if they sank or floated, then built our own tin foil Titanic boats and tested them with pebbles.🚢 Finally, we simulated the sinking by “hitting an iceberg” and observing how a breach affected buoyancy.🧊

🏆GOING FOR GOLD🏆 At long last @beancross.bsky.social have officially been awarded their GOLD Sports Scotland Award for their effort & commitment to developing sport within the school. We are now only the 7th school in Falkirk, including secondaries, to be award this level of School Sport Award.

Recently, we’ve been diving into the fascinating topic of the Titanic.🚢 Pupils explored the ship’s journey, identified the port countries on a map, and even created their own boarding passes in the message centre to use during role play.🌊🎟️

Last week, we had a fantastic time taking part in a cheerleading taster session with Elite Evolution Cheer and Dance!🕺🏼 A big thank you to the coaches for sparking enthusiasm and introducing us to some existing new skills!☺️

Next week 19th - 23rd May is Walk to School Week! This year’s challenge will see pupils take on The Great Space Walk, encouraging them to travel actively to school. On Friday afternoon, we made the most of the beautiful weather by taking some of our favourite activities outside! From making bird feeders and reading in our cozy story tent, to splashing in water play, digging in the sand, playing with the football, enjoying lively parachute games, and more.☀️📖⚽️

Recently in class, we’ve been learning about the seasons. We're currently exploring Spring and its features. The children created beautiful blossom trees and enjoyed a Spring-coloured scavenger hunt, discovering lots of vibrant seasonal colours.🌼🌱

We’ve been working hard to deepen our understanding of phonemes. Our new sound this week is ‘oo’, and the children came up with lots of great ‘oo’ words — though the clear favorite was definitely ‘poo’! 💩 😂

This week’s number of the week is 12! We explored many different ways to make 12 using Numicon, shells, name writing, drawing, and more.🐚✍️🎨

Last week in numeracy and literacy, we had fun creating subtraction and Minecraft-themed sentences. I was so impressed by the incredible Lego masterpiece, built by carefully following instructions!⛏️👷🏽

We are currently exploring the number 11. During today's numeracy session, everyone worked hard to create a variety of number sentences using addition to make 11.👏🏼😊🙌🏼

To end the term, we had an Easter party. We had the opportunity to decorate eggs, play Easter games, create bunny hats, and bring our own Easter chicks to life🐣🎉🥚

Over the past 10 weeks, P1 and P7 have been participating in ‘Buddy Time,’ where they have been engaging in a range of activities to develop life skills. 📝 The children have been learning to sew; they designed and created their own bags. 🎒

Today, we combined numeracy with Easter by having a fun Maths Easter Egg Hunt! Working in pairs, we searched for eggs filled with addition and subtraction problems to solve. Practising number sense, enhancing our number recognition, and working on number formation skills! 🐣☀️

Today, we took full advantage of the beautiful weather by going on a bug hunt. Through a story we explored where various mini beasts like to live, then ventured outside to find and identify a variety of them.🐛🐞🐜🪳

Recently, in class, we've been enjoying Easter activities, including creating Easter eggs out of Lego. This hands-on activity not only sparked creativity but also helps improve fine motor skills, as it enhances pencil control and precision.🧱✏️☺️

Our engineering focus inspired creativity as we built houses using a variety of materials. Throughout the process, we applied skills like problem-solving, teamwork, critical thinking, and planning and organization, all while incorporating engineering principles.👷‍♂️🧱😀

As part of our STEM Week engineering focus, we had a blast building junk model homes inspired by The Three Little Pigs! Afterward, the Big Bad Wolf put our creations to the ultimate test, as he “huffed and puffed” to see if they could withstand his mighty breath! 🐷🏠💨
