Imagine a network of worker-owned cooperatives that ensures all their workers are safe from the perils of unemployment. If a worker has to be laid off for whatever reason, the co-ops cooperate to find a position within another co-op. If no position is available, they provide unemployment benefits.

Tackling poverty across London (and elsewhere) is going to require tackling the root causes of poverty. By building community power from below, we can create stronger communities that resist economic shocks through mutual aid. Building a local food co-op is a great way to start.

We work with the excellent Felix project to get surplus food to our co-ops all across London - they do amazing work saving surplus from landfill and getting it into the hands of people who can use it!

It’s getting festive at the Gospel Oak Community Hub! We host the community living room twice a week, with a free cooked meal, good company and hot drinks - now our neighbours can get in the holiday spirit while they hang out!

We can now officially say (in sticker form) that Cooperation Town is a Living Wage Employer! Everyone should be able to get a decent, liveable wage no matter what they do.

All kinds of things can be run as a co-op! From housing to cafes, factories to food buying clubs - if the members control it, the possibilities are endless.

I’m a member of a local food cooperative. Not only has it saved me a fortune, but I am cooking healthier meals from scratch & I get to be part of a community. The latter, in an ever more isolating London, is refreshing & encouraging. Especially as I am often housebound due to chronic health issue.
