My lifer Western Patch-nosed Snake I found earlier this week at work while hiking back to camp! This guy was out enjoying the late afternoon sun and I was thrilled to see them, as it’s a species I didn’t think I would find at all!! #herps 🐍

I've heard Great Horned Owls frequently while camping in the last month or two but I've never seen any until this weekend. This is the first one I'm able to photograph! What a beautiful animal! #birds 🪶

Glossy Snake (Arizona elegans) We finished the work week early and I decided to give snake night cruising one last go before calling it for the rest of the year. The temps were promising yet nothing was crossing but on my last pass I saw this awesome snake!! Another amazing lifer for me! #herps 🐍

It took a minute but I finally found my lifer Gopher Snake!! For as common as this species is, this was a tough species to find for me lol #herps 🐍

Northern Pacific Rattlesnake (Crotalus oreganus)

The other lifer I managed to find this past weekend was this beautiful Tiger Rattlesnake chilling in a rock crevice! This was one of my targets for the day and one of my top targets in Arizona! #herps 🐍

LIFER BANDED SAND SNAKE, LET'S GOOOO. Very special find for me. When I moved to Arizona, my goal was to try to get my snake species lifelist up to 70 before going back to Tennessee in November. It got close, but I finally clutched my 70th snake species last night! #herps 🐍

Lifer California Kingsnake I found on a desert road the other night!!!! This was not in my bingo card, I saw this snake from the car and immediately knew what it was and I was soooo excited!!! What a beautiful species!! #herps 🐍

A tiny Desert Tortoise I found crossing a road! This is genuinely one of the coolest animals I’ve road cruised so far out west, it’s pretty tough to come across Tortoises this size class. So adorable! #herps 🐢

A very angry Mojave Rattlesnake I found the other night. This particular night I found some chill rattlers and some angry ones, it was interesting to see their different personalities and was a good test for me to read their behavior. I moved them safely across the road as always! #herps 🐍

Took a while but here's my first road cruised Western Diamondback Rattlesnake! They were really big, one of the biggest rattlers I've seen, definitely an impressive animal. They were also such a sweetheart, never rattled or struck and I moved them off the road after some quick pictures! #herps 🐍

The week before leaving Tennessee I found my lifer Coal Skink! This is a ridiculously difficult species of lizard to find in TN, and I'm really fortunate to have seen one and guarding her nest no less! #herps 🦎

Just drove 25 hours over the past two days to make it to Arizona. Gonna be here until November working on a pretty neat field work project! I’m super excited for this opportunity!

Kind of a baffling find, a Southeastern Crowned Snake found in West TN in a county where I don't think they have been reported yet. This species is pretty tough to find especially out of season like this one. Pretty awesome! #herps 🐍

A cute Gray Ratsnake I found on the road right before it started storming super hard. This snake was really dark, I generally don't see them so pattern-less in Middle Tennessee. Pretty cool! #herps 🐍

A few Eastern Box Turtles I found in a hike earlier this week! These guys have been super active this year with how much it has rained in the past month or so, pretty sweet to be seeing so many of them! #herps 🐢

Eastern Hognose Snake (Heterodon platirhinos) I went for a quick afternoon hike while I was in Maryland yesterday and couldn't have asked for a better find!!! These guys love to burrow so they can be pretty tough to come by, this is only my second one ever, so I'm very happy!! #herps 🐍

Probably my biggest lizard target while in California was the Common Chuckwalla, it's a species that I worked with at a Zoo and really wanted to see them in the wild. Thankfully during a hike one morning @evowo.bsky.social and I were able to spot several basking on rocks! #herps 🦎

Probably my favorite snake from California was this Mojave Shovel-nosed Snake @evowo.bsky.social and I road cruised shortly after sunset one night! That color combination is just too beautiful! #herps 🐍

One of the coolest finds from California was this Western Threadsnake. This little guy was the first snake I've ever seen from the family Leptotyphlopidae which is pretty awesome! #herps 🐍

The species I wanted to see the most while in California was the Sidewinder (Crotalus cerastes). It's such a unique species with their wacky movement used for moving in the sand. @evowo.bsky.social and I managed to find these three individuals, one adult and two juveniles! #herps 🐍

A MASSIVE Speckled Rattlesnake (Crotalus pyrrhus) that @evowo.bsky.social and I found on the road a few days ago. We saw a few of these during the past week but this one was by far the biggest! Thankfully we were able to get to them just before another car did and ensured their safety! #herps 🐍

California you better give me a good reason on why is it legal to collect reptiles from the wild (even if it’s with a license), like are you actually kidding me??? Even TENNESSEE has more regulations about that, I’m really disappointed.
