My opinion on AI has always been that it harms workers + environment (also fuck capitalism), but in a vacuum it is a very cool thing to have But now I realise that AI cannot exist in a vacuum anyway because it needs data, be it words or art or numbers

The same applies to art. You replace entry level artists with AI, you're never going to see art made by people at the skill level they are today. It'll all be downhill from here.

@kloysius.bsky.social just put it perfectly: replacing entry level workers with AI is the dumbest way to never create senior skill level workers ever again.

And this isn't even taking into account skill atrophy: right now we have skilled coders who were trained without relying on AI, but what happens in 10+ years when the next generation of coders come along who have relied on AI and lose the eye to tell the difference between good code and crap code?
