Not sure if it’s an age thing, but my goodness I get so sleepy reading now. Trying to read for PhD and I can’t keep my eyes open! Incredibly annoying. Anyone got any top tips for staying awake and engaged 🙈

Unexpectedly lost a writing day today. I can definitely feel that I’m right back in it, because I am a bit sad. Do get to play with the 15 month old I stead though, and she’s the best.

Knowing that your University is about to mess up your supervision but having to wait until their “consultation” period is over before they can actually tell you for sure that they are messing up your supervision, is not fun times! How am I supposed to focus with that going on?!

It is my first official day back to PhD-ing! Where do I start?! I think I’ve forgotten how to do it, haha

Realisation that I am re-enrolling and therefore have to get this PhD done! Two baby breaks is enough I think. I mean no idea what I’ll actually do post-PhD, clearly nothing academic (there are no jobs) but I would love to put my skills to use if I can.

Has anyone ever had a prolonged break for their research/ writing? I had hoped keep my head in the thesis a bit more than I have, but unforeseen family matters (illnesses, hospital stays, etc) have meant that I really haven’t touched it for along time. Any advice on returning to it?

My eldest baby has only 2.5 days left of primary school. Tonight we went to her Year 6 performance; she was magnificent ❤️

Is the place to find all the books still completely gone? Is there anywhere else we can use?

It’s child-free Monday, and I have started the day with porridge and Greek, and will soon be deep diving into the Oresteia before my supervision later. Not a bad day really.

Do I submit an abstract to a conference that feels like it was written for me, even though there is likely no hope at all of me being able to attend? And no online provision (at least not in the CFP).

If I post things relating to my research on Twitter, I barely get a couple of likes, but I share a post from Legoland and it blows up. 🙄😂

My head is currently so stuck in my thesis that I just can't think of anything around it to write papers about! Please tell me this is completely normal.

Greek is hard. There is too much to remember. No wonder I often lose interest and forget to read any for months 🙈😂 . I am a bad classics PhD student.
