#kidlitchat coming in a little late to the topic, but my favorite series is growing up was an old series I found in bookstores called the Judy Bolton mysteries. A letter I wrote to the author when I was a child led to a long friendship and co-writing a new Judy Bolton book together.

#kidlitchat I pay attention to new books coming out but don’t chase trends—in the past I had the first teen cloning series (REGENERATION) and one of the early psychic series (THE SERIES). Despite current trends against mg and for romanticy, I’m focusing on mg mysteries which I love.

Make an actual MG section and separate it by genre so kids can actually find what they're looking for. Middle schoolers do not want to wade through a sea of spines next to potty training picture books & baby toys. Give them their own space. They want the stories. They just don't know they exist!
