I love my little neighborhood tribe. We’ve started a Soup Group between four friends. Once a month we each make a pot of soup; enough to share between the four households. And it’s been the best thing ever. Basically once a week we don’t have to cook, and we have our own little loving soup commune.

I received a most excellent gift for my birthday a few days ago from my dear friend Jenn, and in hit me right in the feels. Even more-so knowing she ordered it a few months ago when Weir was still with us. It’s a quilt made with Grateful Dead album covers including Cornell ‘77. Feeling extra loved.

The smell of a new cassette tape is a vividly strong *core memory*. I can’t explain it. (I do wonder if it was the Chromium(IV) oxide of the tape, or something in the ink or paper of the j-card?) Anyone else love it? The scent ranks right up there with petrichor and chocolate chip cookies for me.

Starting off 2026 with a proper mindful reset. I needed an ocean day. My soul already feels a little better. And I loved catching a super low tide. Makes for great tide pool exploration! Also got to see a snowy egret and some sanderlings!

Christmas morning with my dad and my son (photo by mom!). There’s just something particularly satisfying about playing with a new train set. The holidays are an emotional rollercoaster these days without my late wife with us, so I’m extra grateful for moments like this. Merry Christmas, my friends.
