Lol. I kinda love this. They decked their Corvette out in Christmas lights! Looks like they used a ton of blue painter’s tape to hold them in place. It looked pretty and rather festive. Glad the lights weren’t blinking!

My folks will be celebrating 55 years of marriage in December. I love seeing the quiet moments they still share together while out on their walks.

As a Cub Scout, a Webelos Scout, and Boy Scout, it left an indelible positive impact on me. It’s atrocious to see what this pathetic excuse of a leader is doing to the Scouts. I’m winding down after celebrating my son’s successfully fun (without being extravagant or overpriced) birthday party as a widowed dad doing this parent thing on my own. My boy was sick last year with the flu, and his friends were sick the year before; he’s now sound asleep with a smile. I’m elated.

One of the best scores my son received trick-or-treating on Halloween this year was a mini kaleidoscope. It’s been absolutely hypnotic to him. I kinda love it too — I forget how fun old-school, non-electronic toys can be. I think Santa needs to bring more like these this year. No batteries!

Dog owners understand the “Where’s Waldo” battle we face this time of year when cleaning up after our furballs. As the light fades earlier, and the grass turns brown - the difficulty level exponentially increases. (only leaves pictured here- afaik 🤣)

Sometimes I miss the moonrise ‘cause I’m stuck in traffic, or plain still working. I still grabbed a couple of photos w/ my phone tonight. She’s jussssst about full! Hands down one of my favorite (and funniest) moments last night trick-or-treating with my son, was at a neighbor’s house where they had a “candy chute” they started during Covid. And one option was for ramen noodles. Here’s my son getting himself packet of beef flavored Maruchan noodles. So Stoked!

Played a very fun, but poorly played (on my part) game of chess with my brother, nephew and his fiancé, and my son yesterday. Photo by my sister-in-law. I kinda want one of these giant sets now.

My son loves animals —especially cats. While on our walk last night he made friends with yet another neighborhood kitty. He took off his hoodie and put it on the ground for the cat, in case the cat was cold (ignoring his own cold) and it immediately came over and plopped down next to him. My heart.

Construction of the new ball room is coming along nicely at the White House.

With all the *everything* happening around us in the world, our country, our state…I try to just remember why I even bother to get up in the morning. My son makes it crystal clear to me exactly why…thanks kid. Dad loves you and loves seeing the world through your eyes.

Is it time for a general strike? I think we’re there. I don’t want some ridiculous civil upheaval that endangers lives - but a well-participated general strike that lasts for a week beginning this Black Friday could *maybe* create the impetus needed to get the ball rolling in the right direction?

So very bummed to find out I missed catching the poet Rudy Francisco here in Utah this week. A friend shared one of his poems with me once, when I needed it…needed *something*. Hopefully next time I’ll find out beforehand that he’s coming. Give him a read if you haven’t before. Word balm.

Solid read on the state of our resistance. Many of us (myself included) don’t know how to stop <waves arms> *all of this* but we’re learning together. Shopping cart returners are my kinda people. We could all use a touch more courtesy and social cohesion these days. A little kindness goes a long way. Truly.

I will still return a shopping cart to the corral no matter what. Pouring rain? I’m running late? Doesn’t matter. Carts go back every single time. Cart non-returners shall be viewed with disdain and openly reviled. (Okay so not super niche, but serious enough)

Making my son’s PB&J this morning for his school lunch…and there’s something so satisfying about dipping into a new jar of peanut butter. I don’t know why, but I always love that first scoop with the knife. Gets me every time. I can’t think of another food which evokes the same response when opened.
