Nearly 26,000 people in the US die by firearm suicide each year—but it doesn’t have to be this way. Policies and practices that create space between someone in crisis and a firearm can save lives.

Our gun suicide crisis disproportionately impacts veterans, who are more likely to own guns than civilians. It is crucial that access to firearms be part of the conversation about veteran suicide in America. We can prevent gun suicides by talking about the deadly role that guns play.
