Morning update <article data-history-node-id="440711" about="https://www.middleeasteye.net/live-blog/live-blog-update/morning-update-540" class="live-blog-update default clearfix"> <h2> <a href="https://www.middleeasteye.net/live-blog/live-blog-update/morning-update-540" rel="bookmark"> <span class="field field-title">Morning update</span> </a> </h2> <div class="content"> <div class="field field-field-text"><p>Good morning Middle East Eye readers,</p> <p>US-Iran talks are reportedly in their "final stages", as  Tehran reviews Washington's response.</p> <p>Meanwhile, Israel's Benjamin Netanyahu argued that the delay in attacking Tehran only benefits Iranians, according to the CNN citing US officials and Israeli sources.</p> <p>Here are some other developments: </p> <ul> <li> <p>In the most most widely backed proposal before the UN Security Council, 137 countries are supporting a draft resolution on the Strait of Hormuz which seeks to "protect international waterways", Al Jazeera reported. </p> </li> <li> <p>The Legal Centre for Arab Minority Rights in Israel, Adalah, said that activists who were captured by Israel from the Gaza-bound Global Sumud aid flotilla were subjected to electric shocks as well as physical and psychological abuse.</p> </li> <li> <p>Hezbollah said it carried out 24 military operations over the past day targeting Israeli forces, military vehicles and positions across southern Lebanon. The attacks included drone strikes and rocket barrages.</p> </li> <li> <p>The US has failed to reopen the Strait of Hormuz despite a "thousand tricks", the political deputy of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy was quoted as saying by Iran’s semi-official news agency ISNA. </p> </li> <li> <p>The US Treasury Department has lifted sanctions on Francesca Albanese, the UN special rapporteur for the occupied Palestinian territory, according to information published on the department’s website.</p> </li> </ul> </div> </div> </article> https://www.middleeasteye.net/live-blog/live-blog-update/morning-update-540
