I thought it would be fun do do some grayscale illustration for the spooky season, though it ended up taking a little longer than I expected.

Unfortunately I couldn't get my gargoyle illustration finished for Halloween but at least I can share a wip! Background still needs to be finished with some grey scale shading too. Will get back to it after the weekend! Happy Halloween!

Concept sketches for a Halloween gargoyle illustration, here's hoping I'll get it done in time! I want this guy to still look kinda natural so I started by basing them off real animals. First is based on baboons and the second was based on rhinos/paraceratherium.

Getting excited about pokemon Z-A so here's my take on chikorita. I see it as a weird little potato, bean, dinosaur thing. I tried to make it look like a baby sauropod but not give it too long a neck so it wouldn't be confused with bayleef.

Finally finished this cat sìth spread for my fantasy felines zine/booklet project! I've kind of merged the cat sìth and cat king folk tale together as they have similar appearances.

The cute chonky dragon pokemon just got even more nonsensical, but I like it! It has a more of a whimsical fairy tail vibe. I kinda just want to snip the little green wings off, or replace them with another pair of little feathery wings. But I'm just nitpicking. Clip studio paint.

A primarina ready for a fight! I don't often render like this as its time consuming and I don't like leaving the safety net of lines. But after messing around in Clip studio for a while I wanted to try again. I like how this came out and it didn't take as long I thought, yay! Might do some more.

A quick break from drawing cats with some pokemon fan art! Primarina has a fun design and I wanted to do my own take on them. Went for an elongated sea lion, with longer fins and frilly webbing. Might colour them later. Digital pencil - Clip Studio

Sketchbook experimenting with cat siths. Just smaller than a5 so I struggled with the details. Pencil, very light yellow and purple watercolour wash, followed by ink wash for tone. Used a micron pen make the cats and some other details pop a bit more.

Not having a great time with the Guardian lion illustration. After two attempts to re-work the last piece I gave up and started on this sketch. I did finish this one but I hated the final result. I think its back to the sketchbook to practice backgrounds more for me!

Did something a bit cheeky by printing older concept sketches directly onto the paper to finish them traditionally. I wanted to see if it would mess up the watercolour/ink, but it just blurred a bit which was expected.

Wip - Guardian lion lines done, currently painting the background

Trying to do a more background heavy illustration for the fantasy felines project. This one might be a bit experimental, I'm planning to digitally ink and colour the guardian lion with a more painty background. I'll see how it works out.

Fuzzy creature sketch, also figuring out a slightly quicker watercolour-ish colour style on clip studio.

This has some charm but unfortunately I think I prefer the sketch. I think I should have gone for pencil instead of ink cause I lost the softness of the original drawing. Cold press fabriano artistico paper. Schmincke watercolours, coloured pencils, microns and postercolour highlights.

Experimenting with toned paper, col erase pencil and white pencil and pen. It was fun! Probably not my favorite way to draw as I struggled to get the definition I like and depending on the lighting is was kinda hard to see the pencil. Nice for quick drawings though.
