Allen’s hummingbirds are very early breeders here in San Diego. I heard courtship sounds of an Allen’s yesterday and then watched him do the side to side shuttle display and then a few dives. 🪶

What are the odds?! Two former patients from the same 2024 crisis, treated in CA 400 miles apart, and spotted healthy and thriving together in Newport, OR. This has to be one of the year’s most incredible sightings (thanks to Roy Lowe) and a reminder of how far recovery can carry them!

More from the Ocean Beach tidepools late yesterday. I was happy to see a few sea stars. I had read that they are coming back to the California Coast after nearly disappearing to the wasting disease.
