They get more power, but in exchange slowly become increasingly feminine, horny, and bound to the mage. and the contract is maintained via an enchanted chastity cage >:3

Villain concept I call Thousandfold Faces. She can be anyone she's ever absorbed before. Demonstrated with a reference to one of my absolute favorite Mangas, Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer(silly name, excellent Manga)
