do i regret skating for 2.5 hours today? no, it was incredibly fun. will i regret it tomorrow when i'm even more sore? still no. it was—and i mean this with my whole heart—incredibly fun.

i'm so excited about my day off tomorrow. i'm going to go to an adult skate session for the first time in weeeeeeeks. maybe i'll even leave my skates to be sharpened, because i'm taking next thursday off too.

i just spotted an oriole singing in the big tree across the street from my house. i can't believe i used to live on a street with only house sparrows. 😭 (not my picture, but look how pretty they are!)

giving in to all my impulses today. i went rogue and planted crocus bulbs (free from bulb removal day at work) in the lawn of my rental, smashed a full bowl of ice cream (strawberry & mint chocolate chip), and now i'm in an epsom salt bath playing theeeee dumbest game on my phone.

i got to sleep in past 6am for the first time in two weeks today. i still have to play in a recital later, so it isn't *exactly* the no obligations day i've been dreaming of, but at least i don't have to be anywhere until 2pm.

FUNNY STORY: it's the second to last class in the session and i just found out i'm actually a level *ahead* of half the class. i would have felt so much more comfortable in the previous classes if we would have started like this!!

reminding myself that i have had exactly TWO skating lessons. the pressure i'm putting on myself because i'm afraid of holding the other students back is pretty insane. that's 1.5 hours of group instruction only.

i absolutely MUST stop taking an hour-long nap after dinner. idk, maybe i need to start taking walks after work instead of lounging. my sleep schedule has been so fucked since this became a habit, and it's a habit that only reinforces itself, because i get more tired every day. 😭

i am desperately tired. like, "close my eyes and i'm asleep in seconds" tired. but i will rally for my skating lesson. i am determined not to let work burnout get in the way of my stupid little hobbies!!

i was really sad when johnny weir retired from touring, because he was really the only skater i followed, and i loved seeing all the behind the scenes pics, and how much fun he had with other skaters, and how appreciated he was as, like, an "elder" in the sport. i love a bit of wistful nostalgia.

it made me feel sweet and cherished when i unmuted my skating discord group to finally read through everyone's reactions and they were celebrating kevin's bolero along with the knowledge that i was going to be elated when i finally saw it
