Found my old cd player and am digitizing some hard to find stuff. Albums and EPs by Black Tape For a Blue Girl, Curve, The Tea Party, The Creatures, and last but not least the iconic Gothic Rock anthology from 1992. The 90s were great for goth. The 90s were harsh on my eyebrows.

Reading Ć hate Gud/Girls against God by Jenny Hval. I only knew Hval as a musician, now I know her as a witch of words. She does not mince them. Hate: a powerful tool in the hands of girls. Girls: ridiculed, minimized, taught they are worth nothing except perhaps what their bodies can deliver.

Tell me about an album you think must be listened to in its entirety, and what memories accompany it. Had flashback to Fields of the Nephilimās Elizium. I interviewed Carl McCoy for a fanzine when I was 17 and asked whether it was true that they put flour on their shoulders onstage. Answer: no.

STOP WHAT YOU ARE DOING. This is the best short story I read in 2024, and soon it shall be yours. Tamara Masri's "Inside the House of Wisdom" is brutal and devastating, as befits the subject matter, but the horrors are framed with so much hope and joy.

The What Magic Is This? podcast released an episode on Robert Anton Wilson. I had a flashback to when I worked in a bookshop in the late 90s and assisted him during a visit. I had read all his work and was a nervous wreck. He was very patient and kind, like an occult Santa.

On the topic of writing in English as a second language, I harbor a special dislike for the word ātheā. Itās cluttery. Sometimes Iām confused by all the ātheā, like theyāre ants scurrying around on the page. Would love to just tack definitethe articles onto endthe of words instead.

Once a great first line of a story appeared in my head. I wrote the story down from beginning to end. It was good, it was the story āBeatriceā. All other days, I sift through barely legible notes and wonder what I meant by āthereās an egg in a handbag!ā or āhumanity extrasā.
