Nouvelle Vague ticked plenty of my boxes, but it was a touch…I don’t know…safe? Guillaume Marbeck elevated Godard above the constant quote-dropping he has instead of dialogue. Deutch captures Seberg’s radiance. It looks fantastic. Left the cinema craving a Disque Bleu cigarette.

Fantastic to have Sir Christopher back on the show and as always, acing his subject with giddy enthusiasm. I’ll be looking at films like Lust For Life and The Agony & The Ecstasy with new eyes. (His little rant about snobbery in art was perfectly put.)

Caught the Springsteen movie. Equally enjoyably and frustratingly low-fi and unhurried. Worth a watch despite a plot which basically involves trying to find the right kind of echo effect.

I can recommend Christopher’s sterling work without hesitation. I have a triptych of his portraits keeping me company from my walls and they draw the eye of everyone who comes here. His cover for ‘Connery’ is just amazing.
