Why hasn’t The Simpsons ever committed to a gimmick season instead of just episodes? What, are they afraid people will get tired of it?

To be honest Family Guy and The Simpsons have been running on autopilot for most of their runs at this point, and South Park gets made in a week. By comparison Boondocks was a more complex and person thing with irreplaceable talent that’s been scattered to wind over the years.

As much as I’d like to put Boondocks at number 1 I’ve never seen a more impressive tight rope walk than The Venture Brothers spinning half thought out ideas into the most complex world of almost any TV show.

#OneBattleAfterAnother was pretty good, but I’m with FD on this one. It’s not politically coherent. You won’t get a deeper theme than you would get out of Fast & Furious. That show is the biggest 180 I have ever made on anything. When I was a kid I thought it was the most boring shit ever, and probably would have told you S-cry-ed was better or something.

No shade, I get why someone would say this. But good god never let this happen. Adult swim is good partly because it never had to be a load barring pillar of a mega corp. You change that and suddenly surprise success is now minimum expectation. And slow growth is failure.
