I love the iPhone camera’s portrait mode, but feel like it’s a bit aggressive with the depth of field. However, opening the photo in edit mode and dialing it back to f8 usually results in something looking like it was shot with proper glass.

We live in the age of personal, atomic software, often even ephemeral.

Kicked off a reading spree on Christmas and just finished my 13th book (Dungeon Crawler Carl and Bobiverse series). Forced me to significantly reduce my compulsive after-work creative endeavors and gather inspiration and perspective.

Gathered all of my non-work work in one place (to turn it into a website), and had AI review it. Ngl this is going on my LinkedIn. “You design objects people want to hold, and your aesthetic lives at the intersection of Swiss precision and skate-shop energy.”

Holy hell why would anyone want an Android-based ereader?? Got the Boox Go 7 and sending it right back. The software is constantly fighting the operating system and the thing needs to boot every time you pick it up. My 8y old Kobo Aura One blows this thing out of the water.

I’ve been into designing chairs recently.

A few years ago I designed the original logo for @designtokens.org. Recently they asked me to refresh it: simpler, more versatile, and blue (the original color of links). The new logo builds on the old one, keeping the connected core while refining it for any size or use.

Back in 2007 I started freelancing under the name Made by Elephant. Was doing some domain cleanup and was curious what the logo would look like if I did it today. Fun little Wednesday warmup exercise. (Old on the left, new on the right)
