She's done! 1.5 months, 71 colors(73 if you count the Gutterman spools), single strand #handembroidery . This is Puteri, a 1.5 year old sumatran tiger at the San Diego Safari Park! My first two tiger portraits were, coincidentally, of her parents. I'll be sharing comparisons with those soon!

Back with another update on this #handembroidery piece! I really only had the energy to do the ear today but I'm sooo close to being done... I won't have a lot of time to work on it over the next week, but maybe I'll have this done in two.

Another update on the princess! I'm stoked I really feel like it's moving now! I'm loving how the two sides of her face are interacting with the color palettes I'm using. #handembroidety #fiberarts

Put in 4ish hours on this today. Starting on the ruff, filled the snout, and fixed some areas that were bothering me. This is tricky because I have to work in a specific order, in layers basically, for it to look natural. Goal is to work on that chest and shoulder next so I can fill it out "forward"

Anyway I stood beneath a 110 year old fig tree, walked the art district from studio to studio, spoke to artists, bought art, went to museums, and finished it off with some delicious fish tacos and a marg to myself. San Diego was where I learned to LOVE my own company and that still stands

Man. It doesn't matter how much I check the boxes of what I want to do, how much I have enjoyable experiences I will ALWAYS feel like I didn't appreciate things enough. I wish I knew where that mindset comes from. Is it greed? Not wanting things to end?

Progress on Puteri! This is my last bit of work on it for about a week and a half. I'm happy with the progress today, but not sure how I'm feeling about this overall just yet. Trusting the process is my greatest challenge. #handembroidery

Not to get all emotional but I'm excited to experience the city in ways we never could when we lived there. Not only financially (we were SO broke) but emotionally. I was working a soul sucking pet job in management, he was getting a phD in chemistry...we were not very happy people LMAO

I'm going back to San Diego for the first time since we moved away almost 7 years ago and it's so surreal. We lived there for 4 very transformative, HARD years, and the people we are coming back as are WILDLY different than the people we were when we left.

Having a video that previously did really well on TT, also do really well overnight in YT, get comments on how unsightly my chipped nail polish is, is wildddd LMAO. Thousands of people saw the same vid on TT not a one ever commented on that. YouTube appears to be a different place.

Anyway this is the current WIP. I know for sureeee this is going to take me forever. But I'm also trying to actually record my progress instead of waking up one day like "it's done!"

Me: I'm gonna spend a lot of today working on this tiger after I film a few things Also me: spends 2 hours editing a video for YT.

Also I'm just, bummed that I figured out TikTok in the final hour for sharing my art, y'know? I found my niche, cultivated it, and from October to today went from 200 followers to 5.4k. which is so silly to be sad abt but I've never had my art seen like that.

Imagine my distress that capcut was also banned with TikTok. Bro what are we using to edit our YouTube videos on mobile?? How are we getting music onto the videos? Yeah yeah losing TikTok is a bummer for a lot of reasons whatever but the VIDEO EDITOR was so easy 😭 what's the alternative?

Gonna try and get some filming done for YT today or tomorrow. I want to work on a "embroidery tips I wish I knew" kind of thing. And also a desk tour/favorite tools too!!
