Okay so I am still working on my Threadloop #ColouristaChallenge, though it's on pause for now. The goal: very multicoloured shorts. These are the toile. I made the shorter, unpleated version first. Then I ripped off the front and remade it, reusing everything else except the zip as I lengthened it.

#garmentsewing I've been extremely slack with putting labels on my finished garments even though it's one of my favourite parts of the process. Just went and retrieved the unlabeled pile and oof! But mmmm look at all these yum fabrics. Only one in this pile (red polkadots on navy) bought retail.

Just the one video of the pūtangitangi family this morning as we were early and they were still in the knock about on the lawn portion of their day. When we first arrived one of the chicks was doing a great impression of a leaf in the grass and I panicked thinking there were only 5 #nzbirds

Okay look, I had to rebuild the whole front crotch on these #fibremoodbliss wrap pants (more below for the interested) but ... It was well worth it. This is vintage Kanebo cotton twill and one of the backs is patchworked from 4 different pieces because I didn't quite have enough. #garmentsewing

Duckposting! First up, pūtangitangi family. They shifted camp to the other end of the pond, I guess because of the Canada geese. But ... Still 6, still kind of alarmingly big. They fledge at a particular age rather than size so I wouldn't be surprised if they got to adult size still fluffy #nzbirds

Fantail posting? We just went back to the park for a wee walk around (still 6 pūtangitangi chicks!) and we found the fantail/pīwakawaka family very active too. Look how big these chicks are getting now!! There must be just two. Two very well fed. Watch to the end for a real treat #nzbirds

Okay more duckposting, last for today. Here's the palomino baby! Pretty sure this chappy is leucistic. Notice how it has the same markings as its sibling but golden. I was worried this little beauty had gone away but we ran across the family in a bit of the park we don't go to often. #nzbirds

Duckposting 1: pūtangitangi family heading into the pond. Still six! Big ol long legged duckly babies. Mum is the chestnut duck with white head; Dad is black but is actually a sheeny black-blue-greeny vibe. Very fancy. Neither at all like the ducklings!

Okay. I amended the front rise and added two pleats. Rather than make a whole other toile, I'm currently ripping the front out and I'll replace it with the new pleated one, preserving the back, pockets, fly and waistband. This pic is the before. #garmentsewing

I've been researching! Once these little guys fledge Dad will look after them and Mum will build the next nest. They frequently do multiple broods in a season and one pair raised 5 sets of eggs! Toooo cute, we'll have to keep an eye out to see if we can spot the next nest.

And this one really reminds me so much of taking my new entrants to swimming at the pools. One little rebel has raced ahead and jumped in. Mum went over to retrieve him, gave up and was like bugger it, swimming time I guess 🤷 And then how they all just plop on in there 😍

Just revisiting these pūtangitangi videos from the other day (literally can't get enough) & great details I didn't pick up on earlier .. - they're trying to lift their little butts into the air to dive but can't quite manage - they're all in a row and she's on the side like a coach at the pools

Finally... A darling wee thrush serenaded us as we walked through the Japanese garden. Finally spotted her so here's a video of her piping away. She does remain a bit camouflaged. Introduced, ofc but still #nzbirds. My dad is a staunch old farmer but he absolutely loves these.

Then at the other end of the park we always check in on our pīwakawaka / fantail whānau. We've been tracking these guys since they built their nest. Last week or the week before, the chicks hatched, I thought, and sure enough today we see little popping up chick heads. #nzbirds More on them below...

Here's today's pūtangitangi update! They have another huge fan in the form of a dear old lady who walks a little black dog. Today we caught up in the carpark and she said the other day the whole family had a good old fight with a pair of seagulls trying to colonise their pond 😂🪶🇳🇿 feisty little guys.

Okay so I've done my first toile towards the #colouristachallenge, with the #greenstylecaro pants pattern. I need to lengthen the front rise slightly but otherwise I'm so impressed. Love the adjustable waistband especially. Will put this waistband on everything hahaha. #garmentsewing

Well, I'm so far pretty impressed with the #greenstylecargo pants. I haven't even got the adjustable bit of the adjustable waistband in yet and I'm already very impressed with the fit. Okay so these are my hacked 👋🏻 to 👋🏻 death 👋🏻 #iampatternsdiamond overalls and I am quite pleased about the fit. I replaced the whole crotch curve; the original didn't have a snowball's chance of fitting my butt. It's also graded 3 sizes waist to hip. #garmentsewing
