In 1970 when I had just turned 16, a British MP who was visiting Tehran suggested that I meet up with him and several of his stewardess friends in London to mess around. Thank goodness that I was so spooked that I declined. This is a hard world for girls.

Memoir: I loved the smoky smell of burning dung cakes in the morning in Iranian villages. Roosters crowing and sheep bells ringing as they were herded down the road. Then flat bread, quince jam, compote, fried eggs, and tea for breakfast.

Crushes I have had crushes through the years mostly on unexpected bits. A teacher in 6th grade named Lyon who taxidermied cats. An archeologist with thick dark hair on top but sparkling blond leg hair, plus she ate egg shells.

Memoir: I'm up to 1967 and we're moving to Iran for the second time. I'm not so sure why the current Epstein debacle is such a surprise. I could have told you that sexual abuse is rampant in the US.

This is fascinating. Librarians would be great at this.

I'm finally working on my memoir again. Next up is Shiraz and Tehran from 1967 to 1971, where I'll discuss archeological digs, suicidal thoughts, love, and marxists.

This is a worthwhile listen. Now I'm off to make curry and write.

I'm so fucking glad that December is over with! I took down the tree and am making crab cakes, broccoli gratin, and baked sweet potato for dinner. I'm not leaving my house today or tonight. It's cold and people are wacky. See you next year!

Rita's Nails is nearly done and teeth are being stained for an Eat the Rich one.

Beaded until my hand cramped and am staying home and doing it again tomorrow! One is signed and done. I've cried every day for the past two weeks due to the state of the US and memoir stuff. Gotta make art now.

Just ordered 50 tooth beads to make an Eat the Rich fetish wall hanging.

Still writing my memoir, but took a break today to start the "Rita and her Nails" textile piece. The nails are sewn down with pink metallic floss. Will be adding lace and sequins. Shine on, Rita!

I just added making textile art to writing my memoir, working 2 jobs, cooking meals, maintaining my home, co-hosting a monthly writers group + an open mic, and attending a weekly writers group. Add socializing, daydreaming, and reading and it looks impossible. Any ideas?

I was reading from my memoir tonight and I was told that I write the way Kerouac wished he could write. 💪🏼

I've now written 40,000+ words of my bio. I feel like I'm spying on my younger self.

I took a break from memoir writing to make a "What is Sex?" bingo card for our zine. I've been so uni-focused on writing that it was refreshing to make visual art. I need to do it more often. The memoir is going well though.
