Just a quick catchup… F1 is one of my favorite films of the year. I enjoyed Jurassic World: Rebirth a ton. Victorian Psycho was an excellent read. And I hope everyone is doing well.

Watched #Thunderbolts last night at an early screening. I really enjoyed this one. The plot works, each member of the cast does a great job, the action is fantastic, and it sorta has a unique tone. It also has way more depth and character work than I expected. I think Marvel has a winner here.

It’s after midnight so my birthday is over but 39 feels a lot like 38 so far. 🤔

Halfway through Netflix’s Devil May Cry series and it’s awesome so far.

Watched Novocaine. This was a pretty good time! It’s a great mix of comedy and action with a stellar cast, imo. Jack Quaid has some sort of natural charisma he brings his roles and he is always entertaining. I’m not sure this would’ve worked as well with a different actor.

Watched Black Bag and Borderline over the last couple of days. I thought Black Bag was fantastic aaand Borderline wasn’t.

This is kind of a side note but after watching Mickey 17, I really need to see Pattinson as Batman again.

Mickey 17 is an entertaining, wonderful, & strange film. I loved the overall concept of it. The plot totally worked for me & it didn’t feel like 2+ hours went by. Robert Pattinson is terrific in it but Mark Ruffalo steals every scene he’s in. The laughs were a nice bonus too.

I was watching Wayne’s World last night and it occurred to me that Wayne’s show would be a YouTube podcast if the movie were ever remade.

Watched LOTR: The War of the Rohirrim. This one is sort of a mixed bag for me. I enjoyed it but I feel like it was a little longer than it needed to be since the plot is fairly thin. I was still very entertained though and I think the animation’s unique look was interesting.

Watched Companion. This was awesome! I think the cast is fantastic and do a great job of selling the already cool concept. I was pretty entertained throughout. Loved it!

I just finished Mulholland Dr and I immediately want to watch it again. Lynch is 3 for 3 with me.

Wild at Heart is amazing, I love it. Lynch is 2 for 2 with me so far.

I love the Fantastic Four trailer. It looks unique, treats the characters sincerely so far, and just seems cool. The setting is an interesting choice too and if this teaser is any indication, it’s going to work.

I rewatched Captain America: the First Avenger tonight and I still love it. Just saying.

All right, I’ve watched Kraven the Hunter. It’s not great but I thought it was entertaining, at least. The action was good and the performances mostly work but I can’t even begin to explain the plot to you. The writers forgot to add an actual plot or something. But, still fun.🤷🏻‍♂️

I watched Blue Velvet for the first time. I went in totally blind and not knowing a single thing about it. I had no idea it was going to be such a wild ride! It’s a film I don’t know how I didn’t get to sooner. This was my first Lynch anything and I get the hype now.

Anyone that doesn't think Elon Musk wasn't doing a Nazi salute, should do it at their next company meeting in front of management and staff. Or at their school conference. No? Yeah, I didn't fucking think so.

Just throwing it out there but The Hunting Party is pretty cool…

I think Sonic 3 may be my favorite of the three films so far. There’s so much I enjoyed about this one. The action, the majority of the humor, and the story all worked for me. Keanu Reeves as an angry hedgehog was pretty fun and Jim Carrey is always an absolute gem as well.

I was rewatching The Crow ‘24 aaand I still enjoy it quite a bit. The opera scene is a thing of beauty.

Watched A Christmas Story Christmas. I’d say it’s a good time. I don’t think it’s something I’d revisit often but it’s entertaining. It was fun seeing a lot of the old cast back and also the shots which were callbacks to the original.

Rewatched Beetlejuice Beetlejuice and it is still great.

#BlueBeetle is a mid-tier hero whose movie is elevated by a top-tier star turn from Xolo Maridueña. I was skeptical going in, but the world-building and fun family dynamics of the cast won me over. Looking like another DC under-performer so far, but I hope folks give it a chance.
