Early cellophane bees (I think) in flight. Thousands of these solitary mining bees on a sandy bank at Center Parcs Woburn. Females busy digging holes for eggs and males busy interrupting females.

Definitely a Birch Catkin Bug (Kleidocerys resedae) and probably silver birch aphid (Euceraphis betulae) n the first picture. Aphids and eggs in the next pics - are they the same aphid. All in SIlver Birch tree.

Never knew they existed, until I saw this one: Dark-edged Bee Fly (Bombylius major). Harmless. Mimics a bee, so as to lay its eggs in the mining bees nest. (Ectoprasitoid). Single wing pair, long legs, straight proboscis. Excellent. Seen in Floodplain Forest Nature Reserve, Milton Keynes.
