Meet Ophiopsammus maculata, the snake brittle star. Thought to be a scavenger and an ambush predator, it can capture and feed on fast prey including squat lobsters. It either doesn't predate humans, or is such a successful predator nobody has ever survived to tell the tale. We can never know. 🧪🐙🦑🪸🌊🌏

Going to share some facts about some under-loved worms. Because why not. I like to joke my babies are charismatic macrofauna because we hear so much about "charismatic megafauna" like whales, dolphins, even octopus that they over shadow the real gems, the macrofauna. 🧪🐙🦑🌏🌊
