, 1905. 1871 census lists smithy on site but run at time by Robert Gray with apprentice, 19-year-old Charles Stride who took over in 1905. Moved to 25 Brox Rd, '56 & smithy was sold off with 4 houses built on the site.

Happy St Beocca's Day! Abbot of Chertsey who along with 90 others were slaughtered by Vikings who raided Chertsey Abbey in 871. Beocca & Chertsey Martyrs are "Pre-Congregation" saints, meaning they were considered saints long before C12 when canonisation became a structured process.

St Jude's Church Englefield Green 1910 Before C19 Englefield Green was a rural hamlet based around the green. Gradually it expanded so call for a church to be built. On St Jude’s Day 28th October 1858 foundation stone of Church was laid.

Don't forget to put your clocks forward 1 hour! This tavern/coaching clock was made by John James of Egham late C18. Also known as Parliament Clocks as they were erected after the 1797 Act of Parliament which introduced a clock tax. It was repealed a year later.

Throwback Thursday – Chertsey Meads, c.1922 For centuries Meads area was part of the Manor of Chertsey Beomond acquired by Chertsey Abbey 1325. 1937 SCC bought 167 acres at Chertsey Meads. During WW2it was given over to the Air Ministry. Today it is looked after by Runnymede Borough Council

Gothic "Chapel" Ottershaw Park 1958 Designed by James Wyatt the Chapel first appears on maps in c1806. It was originally home to the kitchen, bakehouse and pantry until 1868 when used as the laundry. Eventually building was abandoned and demolished in 1962.
