Installed Debian 12 on a new machine. Had to swap out the SCSI card until I found one that terminated correctly. After much hassle I got Python3 installed and set up a venv. Got tapeimgr installed and running. ... but it doesn't see the tape drive. Disappointment. github.com/KBNLresearch...

I have spent the day attempting to install packages onto a FreeBSD machine off DVD because the internet doesn't work. 51% thrilling / 49% frustrating.

Managed to get FreeBSD installed on an old Dell desktop that had a PCI slot for a SCSI card.

Using DoD 5220.22-M today. I had forgotten how long it takes to write ones and zeroes across a 40 GB hard-drive. HOURS.
