What did we talk about all offseason? It was how little talent was available. Almost every team was trying get better. None were actively tanking and few even willing to strip parts away. That meant most top teams stalled or regressed while bottom end teams (Sharks, Hawks, etc) improved internally.

Hawks pushed back valiantly in the 3rd but can't get the equalizer. Each team dominated a period. In the end it was an even game. Wedgewood was just a little better than Knight tonight. One mistake by the Hawks goalie making a bad clearing attempt was the difference in a 1-0 vs the NHL's best team.

Bears Offense Baby I am so excited to see what these guys can become. They are already really good. And they aren't even fully comfortable in the system. Fucking stoked for the future. If Odunze ever learns to fucking catch a contested pass they could become truly unstoppable.

Get me Johnson, Gordon, and Edmunds healthy for the GB game. That happens and Allen might be able to get this Bears defense into a playoff caliber shape. Surviving against bad/backup QBs right now, but the scheme is proven. Get the top 3 players back and it could hold up against playoff competition.

Front six on the field for that three-and-out: Joe Tryon-Shoyinka, Grady Jarrett, Chris Williams, Austin Booker, Amen Ogbongbemiga, D'Marco Jackson Only Williams and Jarrett had played defensive snaps for the Bears the first month of this season. Strong work by this group.

Bears have been cleaning up the pre-snap penalties the last few weeks. Good sign the offensive personnel is learning the system. This offense has so much talent. Once it fully clicks the Bears should be incredibly dangerous.

Bears developing into a good screen team is nice.

I'll give Poles credit. He built admirable CB depth this year. We entered training camp believing this was the deepest part of rhe team and it has managed to not completely collapse despite crushing injuries. Wright, McCloud, Blackwell, adding CJGJ. They've done as well as could be expected.

I was expecting the defense to suck. They aren't even good when everyone is healthy. Without all the LB and CB? Atrocious. Even against a backup QB. I expect more from the offense though. 17 points, sure, but they only properly executed like 5-10 plays the entire half.

I'm not being too harsh, am I? Maybe I don't watch enough non-Bears games to properly compare them. But this team is sloppy AF in all facets, right? Like, they have no business beating any decent football team.
