I wonder if people understand that for many of us the pride flag is not just an expression of queer identity it is a REJECTION OF THE CLOSET SPECIFICALLY. That is- its display is explicitly meant to COUNTER the conditions of queer invisibly, which has been at the heart of our marginalization. 1/

for your tireless efforts to protect families harmed by family detention. Juan needs medical care, safe housing, access to nutrition and a nurturing environment. Detention and deportation without due process is cruel and wrong.

The 2-month-old baby in ICE detention was so sick he was hospitalized and unresponsive last night. Despite that, today, he and his entire family were deported. Now we don’t know where they are or if the baby is receiving healthcare.

Notice how the popular media narrative has moved on, while people on the ground in Minneapolis are still struggling and crying out that things are as bad as ever. This is how fascist regimes operate — overreach, recalibration, normalization. Get louder, not quieter.

Farm workers. The fields on the field. The legacies of slavery and colonialism—the sugar cane plantation, labor power, power crisis—despite it all, the future reaches through the tv to the past to make our postcolonial present. The people of the Americas live on: seguimos aquĂ.

It was transforming the biggest NFL stage in the world into a sugar cane plantation that did it for me. Like, the multiple layers of turning an American icon into a plantation and highlighting the history of exploitation of Black and Brown bodies by the NFL and American colonialism simultaneously?

I will eventually shut up about this but Bad Bunny’s use of the power lines is an outstanding example of how to communicate about climate and energy issues. Not about who is the smartest nerd in the room and spewing numbers but about people’s actual lives. Genius.

Benito is a threat b/c he makes art so alluring and enjoyable you want to understand everything about it and then you end up learning about sugar and slavery and colonialism and the TaĂnos and Hawaii and then you probably have some thoughts of your own, and that's why art is powerful and dangerous

Annoyingly, this doesn’t specify what exactly is happening. But it sure seems like DHS filed a “motion to pretermit” the asylum application. Which it is doing in countless cases around the country. There’s been a little reporting on this; there needs to be a bunch more. I’m working a piece myself.

Hi Coloradans! Reminder, in Colorado, the election primary looks like this: Caucus -- > Primary --> General Election This means that in order to get progressive Democrats on the primary ballot, we need to attend caucus to get them on.

This is what I mean about Congressperson Titone: she'll say what she thinks is right because she's unflinchingly focused on truth and accuracy. This is exactly the kind of person I want in government: someone who will issue a gentle correction even if it's not in her favor.

We need a better way to get the 3800+ kids out of ICE detention than this. We know Liam’s name and we can advocate on his behalf, but that isn’t true of almost any of the other people stuck in detention centers. We have to stop ICE on a systemic level.

Judge Biery signed the order with a photo of Liam and two bible verses: The first is "But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven." The second is simply "Jesus wept." Astonishing thing for a judge to do.
