Roma day today. Santed to draw something nice. I picked a goldfinch. They're unobtrusive and resilient birds with beautiful plumage and song. I thought it was fitting. It's hard not to get political these days. Everything seems to be a controversial political issue, including the deliberate killing of journalists. I feel that if someone is trying to restrict where and what media can report on, they're trying to hide something and it's not likely to be good.

I am trying to get better at doing realistic body shapes. Have a pair of lions. I can't handle colours very well yet so this one is in colour. Singular.

So anyway, here's Shalina Maloof. She's a black-winged kite originally from Sabtah in Northern Africa, but she's moved to Boston. She's a barista at a pirate themed café on the docks. She was part of a webcomic project of mine that never took off.

Every time I change brands of sketchpads I have to recalibrate my drawing technique by drawing a dog. Here, have a calibration dog.
