i have a feeling the bride! might end up being a jennifer’s body situation. i’m pretty sure it even had the same cinemascore. i remember loving that movie when a lot of people around me hated it. now my friends love it and it blew up with gen z. i’ll happily ride that same wave with the bride! lol

I absolutely adored The Bride so much. Growing up, I was always fascinated by the Bride, wondering who she really was beyond that brief moment in the 1935 film. This movie finally gives her that life. My review:

for those who don’t know: ALYSA LIU literally retired after the 2022 olympics, left skating for two years, went to college, lived her life, then came back, won worlds, and just won olympic gold. a comeback for the ages. i love seeing women win. i love figure skating. absolute cinema ✨

Rewatched The Big Sleep and, ugh, Lauren Bacall was so fucking cool, man

i get the criticism, valid criticism for this movie, totally fine, but that’s not what i’m saying at all. i just think people get so caught up in their analysis that they’ve forgotten what it was like to be a kid 🤷‍♀️ that’s where i’m coming from when i watched this movie lol

this interpretation reminds me of being a teenager, reading late into the night until the words blurred and sleep quietly took over. it feels like something pulled from that half dream state, soft, strange, and untethered from time or reality, existing in its own delicate, floating world

this may shock the world but as an english major i enjoyed the hell out of wuthering heights lol

Did you know Humphrey Bogart was buried with a tiny gold whistle from a charm bracelet he gave Lauren Bacall before they even married? It was engraved: “If you want anything, just whistle,” echoing her line in To Have and Have Not: “You know how to whistle, don’t you, Steve?”

Rewatched To Have and Have Not (1944). Lauren Bacall was the queen of cool, smoky voice, effortless slouch, a glance or whispered line that could cut through the room. She embodied danger, mystery, elegance. Not to mention her wardrobe in this movie was god-tier 🖤
