I was scared to tell my wife I was a furry last year. Now she's comfortable enough when I told her I was going to try making a head her only critique was... 'oh, not another rabbit!'. I will admit, it would have been the lazy choice since I already honed the stl file to fit me.

Not dead. Just busy. But I did go to my first con, AnthroOhio and... Man. It was a blast. It was a lot, though. In a good way. Also, just for a few hours, but I got my first taste and now I want to really go to a con.

Woof! It's been a wild day. Printer maintenance, fixing a burnt-in jam, finds sensor detecting a filament I couldn't see (thank you finda for not giving an 'all clear' no matter how much I yelled at you till I found the clog!) but I am off to the races for printing again.

Arrrgh, I printed the wrong visor and two days of printing and a spool of pla just went down the tubes.

Making fox helmet mk2. I put a lot of work into making the model better, and took extra time sanding and post processing... But the paint job is turning out worse! Gotta let it cure and do some sanding and painting after.

Took the helmet out for a spin at the Ren faire, and it was incredible. I thought it would hurt or get uncomfortable after a while, but it did not! And I got a lot of compliments and even some people asked for photos. I feel kind of vain and wish I had more than 2 photos of myself.

I am full of happiness it feels like my furry feet barely touch the ground. Not even impending tax season can dampen this mood!

Words cannot describe. I used green felt, which I am now really regretting because it doesn't like being scraped. But I followed all the tutorials I could, and did it badly. But they look. ... Passable. But they feel like walking on a cloud. Man. They may be crappy, but I am proud.

I am not good at this. I console myself that I am just starting, and shouldn't and do not expect to be good. Though... I am doing whatever I can to avoid sewing by hand. Whatever. I. can.

Neoprene fabric! It's the wave of the future for inner linings! (?) Well, one thing is for sure, my inability to see it is definitely a skill issue.

I tried to make feet a while back, based on what 'seemed right'. No joy in mudville. I think I will buy a pattern from a creator and take another swing at it.

It was really wonderful to get out and feel the sense of community. It was wild and such a positive experience in every way, and to meet such awesome people.

Finished the head and the 'shirt' and tail just in time for the Flap N Yap ski meetup! Designed to be used once. I learned a lot!

There's lots of head tutorials out there, which I benefit from due to my rookie nature, but I am going to try something... Goggly

The footpaw I did was... Well, it was a learning experience. But there is an upcoming event and I am going to try and have something to wear. And hopefully not be nightmarishly asymmetrical!

I am full of nothing if not hubris. And coffee. But mostly hubris. I want to make a footpaw.

The green paint turned out way better than expected! It dried a weird light mint, but was more robust in direct sunlight, but then with the clearcoat protecting it turned even darker and almost completely colormatches the painted steel armor! Reverse happened for the chrome highlights though.

The metallic finish really worked out great! The layering is only visible in a few places, either because of not enough (at the seams) or too little wood filler. Waiting on the green foil paint to arrive. It looks good enough to me that unless I was going with the green theme, I'd leave it as-is.

Got the mask done and it clocks in at 13oz compared to the first version which was 20oz. Attached to the face, that made a huge difference. Time to do what I can to hide the 3d printing layers before painting.

It -looks- good, but the mask weighs a bunch, and feels like even with proper padding on the inside, it would fall forwards. I may need a counterweight or to -really- lighten the mask portion. No banana on hand for scale.

Followed the tutorial for wood filler+acetone. Forgot to mix in the bonding agent and all was sadness and weeping. Did it correctly the second time and all I gotta say is WOW, I... still did NOT do it well, but I did do it better than last time!

Tried to do bondo to smooth out layer lines on a PETG full size helmet. It did not go well, and reconnected me with my old forgotten distaste for sanding.

So, been big into renfaires for a few years, and accreted a few pieces of armor. I've decided to make my own helmet, and so by shamelessly downloading free assets (for personal use!) I've kitbashed together what might be a workable helmet. Through rapid iterations I built a little prototype.

Time to be semi-public! As a fur who's been under the radar their whole life, I'm creating this account as my very first social media... thing? Profile? I'll probably be posting 3d printing stuff here as well.
