I read “The House of the Spirits” in my last year of high school and it exploded my preconceived notions about what a book could be, and do, and how it could be structured.

There are little maple leaves all over bookstores to signify Canadian authors lately (and, as with groceries, sometimes they’re missing or on the wrong items). But there’s been no easy way to tell at a glance whether or not the publisher is Canadian (trust me I‘ve tried). I love this. 💙📚🇨🇦

I originally wrote "Godsend" for CLOVES Literary, an online-only arm of Reservoir Road. Their niche was fiction and CNF under 500 words dealing with trauma, nostalgia, and difficult memories. "Godsend" handles church misconduct and abuse through the blinkered perspective of a teenage victim.
