Ah, the #adhd magic of actual deadline work, when the brain actually focuses and meets or exceeds your needs. I wonder what it would be like if it worked like that all the time? Is that what it’s like to be neurotypical? Where you just decide to do something and then do it? I can’t even imagine.

I won the #adhd lottery today: I have hours of work on a project due tomorrow, and thought I had a 2 pm appt, which would not only take 2 hrs but also send me into wait mode. But the calendar says no appt! Win! (Of course I could have one that I forgot to enter. A problem for another day)

-4 a.m.: Wide awake. I should go ahead and get up, I could get so much done! -4:30: No. Coffee first. -5:00: Honestly, how do people know where to begin? -5:30: It’s so dark out. -6:00: Sleepy, going back to bed. -8:00: Awake. Bleary. Day feels completely lost. Let me introduce the #adhd brain

With ADHD, the frontal lobes are under-activated so thresholds for activation from outside stimulation remain high. Exercise stimulates the brain, lowering the sensory thresholds, making it easier to experience interest & pleasure. But habituation (eg, boredom) occurs & u must re-stimulate the brain

Maybe we should list tasks in brackets, like tournaments. Start with 16. Laundry vs. email, dishes vs. vacuum, etc. You go game by game, picking one. They then go against each other. I can’t figure out how the second round works but at the end you’ve finished half, which is better than usual #adhd

He: -lets scoot the chairs apart and squueze it in there Me: ok (sighs) My brain: I hate Christmas Later that day: shops for more decorations life with #adhd

And……. There always comes the day when you’re ready for everybody to go home. Especially the 4-year-old. Of course, they don’t leave until tomorrow afternoon. Give me strength. Also focus.
