President #Trump has appointed real estate developer Steve Witkoff as the lead negotiator in talks with #Russia over the war in #Ukraine. Witkoff was previously involved in the ceasefire in #Gaza and is seen by Trump as a strong negotiator.

Approximately 75,000 federal employees (3.75%) have accepted Trump's resignation offer, allowing them to retain their salary until September 30. Meanwhile, a judge lifted the suspension of this policy—a victory for #Trump and a defeat for the unions.

President #Trump remains controversial, beginning his second term with 47% approval and 48% disapproval—historically low. However, his support among independent voters has risen to 46%. For comparison, Joe Biden took office with 57% approval (and left with 40%).
