I had the great privilege to visit the Oklahoma Civics Day event at the Capitol and it was such a thrill to see students’ community-based civics projects. This event helps students see citizenship in action. I’m confident that these students are going to make us proud.

We let the people who fought for our country fall through the cracks… funding cuts just shuttered a Black veteran support nonprofit in CD-5. This is a moral failure by leaders who can find money for everything but the men and women who served. This is unacceptable.

While everything from groceries to insurance to healthcare is getting more expensive, my millionaire opponent is spending her vacation touring mansions & smiling for photo ops with her donors. In Congress, I’ll make sure healthcare is accessible to everyone at a reasonable cost.

In CD-5, 40,000 households rely on SNAP benefits. Almost half of those households include a child and a third include a senior. More than 50 percent include someone with a disability. Starting Nov. 1, these Oklahomans will no longer have access to programs that keep them fed.

There’s a joke to be made about putting Stephanie Bice’s tenure in DC in the rearview, but I don’t think anyone's in a laughing mood. Programs that keep people alive & feed hungry kids are on the verge of stopping. It’s time for Stephanie to end her vacation & get back to work.

They want us to throw up our hands & say I quit! Their strategy is called flood the zone. When everything feels like it’s happening all at once and there’s nothing anyone can do to stop it, that’s when we must stand strong. We must fight. We must win. And we must do it together.

Today, Karl and I had so much fun at the 30th annual Mesta Festa in the heart of OKC. The weather was great and the company was excellent. One of the best parts of the campaign is spending time meeting people who care so much about the future of their community, their district and their nation!

The team and I had so much fun walking in Tecumseh’s Frontier Day Parade this morning. CD-5 has such a great mix of big cities, small communities and rural towns. It’s important to remember the past and celebrate our progress, together.

Ryan Walters never cared about education. He never cared about the kids. He never cared about the teachers. Everything I said that he would do, he did. He has hurt Oklahoma in a profound way. So to my old “friend” Ryan: don’t let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya.

I am not afraid to meet with the people in the 5th district. Oklahomans deserve better.
