If you can't tell, I'm just now fully learning what recursion is. Really working on learning low-level programming, as most of my experience is with web dev and basic Java. Please excuse my nonsensical posts, I'm just blowing off some steam while studying.

Like if you really think about it...if there were an AI uprising in 2099 or something, the root cause of it could be that we discovered recursion as a method of problem solving in programming. And the crazier part? We could defeat the rogue AI by just removing the semicolons in their source code.

Why is it that Java lets me call a function...inside of that same function before its even finished (recursion) but I get slapped with an error message when I forget a semicolon. Like it just makes no sense to me.

TL;DR I genuinely don't think decentralized social media (including but not limited to the #fediverse) works on a large scale. the whole thing falls apart. From a technical standpoint with videos and other large media files, and from a population standpoint (everybody just goes to one instance)

the irony of it all is that Microsoft is a major contributor to the Linux kernel and makes a boatload of money off of it through Azure and the Linux community is very hostile towards Windows Like there's just no winning for Microsoft here. Can't invest in desktop Linux without killing Windows.
