Politically Star Trek religiously Star Wars. Lawyer, pragmatist
pinned post!
After everything I am coming to the conclusion the really important discourse is the popular culture one because having good (not necessarily interesting or unique) popular culture takes is the best proxy for good political takes.

I disagree to the extent that people who listen or watch right wing news are currently obsessed with this. They care about everything they are told to care about. There are millions of them.

Researching an issue that judges sometimes get wrong. Looking at a decision where a judge is explaining the law citing to statute and still gets the law wrong because he is citing to an old version of the statute and never look to see if the legislature changed it.

I honestly expected the conservative movement to go all 14A wasn't properly ratified and was surprised by the post modern turn of we can reinterpret all words to mean what we want them to mean. Shouldn't have been surprised based on what happened with the 2A (not talking about Charles).

An essential development over the past decade-plus is that the ignorant went from feeling chastened when their ignorance was revealed to banding together and deciding that, actually, they were right. They might disagree at times, but they agreed that ignorance itself was an indicator of trust.

Is there something sort of doctrine about the supreme court not issuing opinions on hypothetical issues. This hypothetical is also very stupid. The governor or mayor can also deploy forces to quell a mob attacking the court

I feel like my philosophy of the mind professor would either be incredibly proud or incredibly disappointed that 20 years later this is how I answer this question. Not quite sure which way but I guess disappointed this is my answer proud I have thought about it at all.

Congressional democrats should definitely investigate and impeach Trump in 2027. The question is do they send him good bills that spend money... which he may sing because he likes spending money and doing things. This may help get senate Republicans to vote for removal and get Vance in there to stop

The issue was the boosters were trying to raise money from the plutocrats by saying you will be able to fire all of your expensive employees and capture their wages as profits and 1) couldn't deliver it 2) all the employees were now incentivized not to let the technology deploy even if it worked.

There will come a time when people of good faith are empowered to uphold the law. When that time comes, Illinois will have the testimony and records needed to pursue justice to its fullest extent. The truth of what Trump and his masked agents are doing in Chicago will be told.

The problem with a media (not Chris) ecosystem that propagates no view and stands for no truth is that voters come to belive that this kind of public policy is possible (because liars tell them it is) and get upset when it doesn't happen
