UPDATE from Causeway Police>>> Southbound is about to open up fully for rush hour; cones are being picked up SOUTHBOUND ONLY for that reason. Police will do a convoy in the southbound. Northbound will remain one lane only.

TRAFFIC ALERT>>> The Bonnet Carre Spillway is also closed at this hour due to fog.

TRAFFIC ALERT>>> The Causeway bridge is down to one lane in both directions DUE TO FOG. Officials placed fog cones and also reduced the speed limit on the bridge to 45mph.

According to the Causeway GM-- Right now (9:30am)-- Foggy conditions are believed to be the reason for the crash. Trying to get commuters stuck on bridge off as crews work the crash. Causeway is expected to be closed until about 11 a.m. today. USE ALTERNATE ROUTES.

My source with EMS in St. Tammany says two accidents on the Causeway right now... multiple people injured and transported to local hospitals. Injuries do not appear to be critical. Crash 1 is 11 vehicles at MM18. Crash 2 is 3 vehicles farther south. @fox8live.com
