I never know how to take nice photographs of my sketchbook, because it always feels kinda staged to me if I lay the pencil next to the sketch or something. And my camera is not good enough to take a photo from a double page and then crop out the surroundings. Any suggestions? Closeups like this?

I'll say it again, Art is communication. "Create for yourself" really means "Create art that communicates who you are." And one sided communication feels terrible. Commenting on peoples art/creations can be scary, I get it. But COMMENT. COMMUNICATE. We want to hear it. I want to hear it.

I asked my sister which animal I should sketch next and she said porcupine. The head shape is pretty round and I could only change it so much before it stopped looking like a porcupine. 🧐 But the spikes on the back are cool and offer many possibilities for a nice silhouette.

We had elections in our state (NRW Germany). The preliminary results look terrible. The (extreme) right-wing parties got the most votes and I'm so sick of it. All these lies and hate. I'm surrounded by the nicest people and I can't imagine that things should be so different outside of my bubble.

Ok this page looks a little bit chaotic. I was figuring out a way to draw the "hands" of animals with hooves or thick claws. I always go for four fingers and three toes no matter the species just to keep things consistent. The ones I liked are marked red.

One of the most meaningful lessons I’ve learned is how important it is to make others feel important. Not on a surface-level—really notice what you appreciate, show them, and SAY it. We often assume our kind, talented friends already know how amazing they are. But often, they don’t hear it enough.
