*i mostly say this due to how mel seems to struggle with fully remembering elora's death when we first see her in act two. i also personally think that leblanc has tried to 'test' mel using every single person she transformed into. kino is just the test we saw onscreen.

whether it's due to apathy, biases, or both, the writing team fails to fully address the impact of her time there in the way they do for jayce. mel's suffering is often not acknowledged as a result or is hand-waved away because she's 'rewarded' with powers she didn't ask for.

before continuing, i do think it's important to highlight that mel went through a highly traumatizing event that parallels jayce's. mel's time in the oculorum (the left) is a mental illusion while her time being physically chained up for months (right) is her physical reality.

Mel's arc is about how she struggles with vulnerability because of her mother's rejection. It results in a need to overly prove herself as a Medarda and to be in control / ahead of Noxus invading by fighting power with power which is obviously flawed. That’s the point.
