Because let me tell you, in 5 years when mel's influence has been seen and expanded and is undeniable (because the exact same thing happened to candice patton's iris west and anna diop's koriand'r) riot and these idiot writers will be MORE than happy to claim THAT praise.

Fundamentally i read comics (and i'm sorry for that) so i'm very used to taking a character for myself with both hands and then displaying open and enthusiastic hostility to the writers, artists, fans, and parent company. And honestly, i think mel fans should consider operating this way

When you have nonBlack writers and professionals working with Black characters, their biases always come through. And they're SO upset when their title doesn't shield them from criticism. Being behind a company account doesn't make you infallible. It just makes you a bigger idiot than other idiots

Honestly just because people are "professionals" in an industry doesn't absolve them of criticism. I think it actually means they deserve more of it. When you foster an environment that's hostile to Black fans, especially Black women and girls, that deserves to be called what it is.

A lot of these professionals think that they deserve prestige or respect for making it industries that largely rely on nepotism — just something we should all remember — okay, so do something worth respecting then. You want me to kowtow to you bc you draw sprites? Stop being antiBlack first
