I am reading Wormwood Abbey by Christina Baehr and enjoying it immensely. It's lighter, but it's essentially "Very Practical Heroine moves back to Gothic Family Home" which is a genre I enjoy. (I love gothics dearly. I also love seeing them get slightly skewered by people with Common Sense.)

The hard part on working on books is after your author’s submitted it to the editor and there’s an entire YEAR until it comes out and you just want to shake people and go “READ IT, IT’S SO GOOD” but you can’t cause it’s not out yet.

Ugh. I started reading a new book (Devils kill devils by Johnny Compton) and it’s really obvious that the writer loves horror films but hasn’t come to grips with the fact that books are a separate media and you have to use language differently to achieve an impact.

I’m reading in (not regular fandom) and at first I read the first two pages of sorted by kudos, but the fics were getting shorter and I wanted long. So I resorted by word count. OOF. I JUST WANT GOOD LONG FIC, my life is so hard, etc.
