As the years go by, in movies, comics, and books, I hate flashbacks more and more. Like 80% of the time they fucking kill a story’s momentum dead. If you gotta do it make it REALLY short or REALLY funny or REALLY good, and the first is more in your control.

#Watched Scanner Cop (1994) - 4th entry beats the dull 1st sequel but not remotely as fun as III. 2 things worth watching - the scenery-chewing antics of Hilary Shepard, and Buechler’s absolutely gnarly fx (do heads explode? Of course, this is Scanners. But heads also pop out of other heads.)

Not surprised he got Thomas, because Thomas would uphold the constitutionality of the “Thomas Must Suck Trump’s Dick” executive order, but a little surprised he got -both- Gorsuch and Alito - I thought at least one or the other would buck this. A win, but terrifying as a portent in that respect.

And put the final touches on the Nosferat’chu’s refreshment station, which was just incredibly fun to paint and customize. #bloodbowl

If you measure the quality of a flick by how batshit it is and, more importantly, the # of times weirdos cackle and shoot lo fi laser beams out of their hands at each other, BUDDHA'S PALM is the greatest film ever made

I accept that this is a losing battle, folks who came up on CG seemingly do not “see” how shitty the cg animals and blood looks in the same way that my mother cannot “see” that the pictures of my kids she is framing are out of focus and my aunt cannot “see” motion smoothing 😆

Looking at you, Del Toro’s Frankenstein! Why make a movie that gorgeous and then have a scene with CGI wolves that look like they were farted out by a 12yo on a MacBook during recess. If you don’t want to use real animals, rewrite the scene around them. An insult to the audience.

(So fucking lazy, yes, real animals are harder to work with and you have to be more careful. But a CGI dog is just fucking trash, always looks cheap and bad - you need CGI to get a shot of a dog licking someone’s face? That’s what peanut butter is for. stunts and dogs are ALWAYS better real.)

#Watched Supergirl (2026) - went with my wife and daughter, my daughter really enjoyed it, I thought it was a bit meandering and messy but amusing enough, probably giving this a bit of a pass based on my daughter’s enthusiasm and Alcock’s substantial charisma. Some thoughts in thread below: /
