Just watched "Late Night with the Devil" (2024). An odd "found footage" film about a late 70s TV show broadcast. I couldn't feel if it wanted to be scary or wacky. And the "behind the scenes footage" was normal film, did not feel like BTS. It also used AI art for the show art panels 😔.

Started "Silent Hill f" today. Gorgeous looking game, continuing a return to good form for Konami's games. It's definitely a Silent Hill game with cryptic puzzles, twisted humanity, pipe-wielding combat and a otherworldly mystery. Combat is more involved, but can be avoided if careful. Good stuff.

Been installing and optimizing some older games I own on PC and decided to take a quick jump into John Romero's troublesome FPS "Daikatana" again. I never got far into it, so these first areas are the only real experience I have with the game. But I always liked the gloomy rainy green visuals.

I've been stalling on buying any big games due to me spending time building my fan project. But I am a big Silent Hill fan and it's been a while since we had a original game that also comes out the gate with a mostly positive reception. October will be the month I'll spend most on games this year.

Finished Season 1 of #AlienEarth. Adding new alien threats like Ocellus was fun, but overall I didn't like it. Dealing with kids in adult bodies felt too Disney with a Peter Pan cringe boy at the helm. They also made Xeno's look and act like a rubber suit cosplayer and went Chris Pratt on one.

Just watched "Oddity" (2024) Story was ok, a mix of mystery and paranormal. Sadly you can often feel when the setup for a jump scare begins, using all those familiar editing methods, making it feel "by the numbers". The opening scene is one of the best parts, very eerie "what would I do?" dilemma.

Just watched "Noroi: The Curse". I heard good things, but this one did't grab me. One over the top character straight up broke my immersion and the rest felt like it dragged a bit too much. Some scary moments and "a big reveal" were stand-alone shots that felt badly cut in, not matching the flow.

Acquired a still sealed copy of this little lesser known gem today. I'll always say that if they ever want to release the PREY 2 build in some form and can't call it PREY 2, they could consider using Mace Griffin as a franchise coat.

The Steam page is up! One of my favorite games is going to get it's official release at the end of this year. It's been a long and sometimes painful journey. And though it'll still have problems following it into release, it's still the most unique and authentic "military" FPS experiences out there.

The next Dragon Quest Remake after 7 is 5.

Just watched "Weapons". Pretty good, but the mystery at the start is the most interesting part. As it then switches gears in the second half. Something Zach Cregger did before. I wish they kept the reasons more in the dark. Give us enough to figure it out, but not go all out until the very end.

Found time to watch the new Superman. Pretty good Superman movie. It does a good job of presenting a "new" DCU with it's own characters, skipping long introductions and getting right to it. It also has a few unexpected plot points and moments and that very clear mirror to current events.

Oh I hate that when I post a funny Photoshop edit and the moment it does get a bunch of likes/retweeted I see a major editing flaw that is now engraved in there.. ugh... too late now.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. fans that want to play an interesting take on PvPvE extraction shooters with weird anomalies should keep an eye out for "Active Matter". Watching Lirik's live stream and the first impressions are pretty good? It looks pretty and mixes realistic gunplay with weird dimension stuff.

There's a remake of FATAL FRAME II coming and it's also on Steam! Like with Silent Hill 2, they chose to do II first I guess. I know it's many people's favorite. But I'd love to see a remake of the first too.

I'm note sure if AI generated videos have leveled up to crazy realistic levels with longer complex multi event shots with consistent detail or people are just straight up paranoid that everything that looks a bit more spectacular than they expect is AI generated. And AI users defend this paranoia.

Played a chunk of "Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater" (Ps2 port from the Master Collection). Focusing on pure gameplay, challenging myself on hard and trying a human non-lethal run. The game still looks great. It's fun trying to be actually good at stealth and use all tools and the environment.

wow... Silksong's release is crashing the Steam Store entirely it seems. Too many users trying to buy it at once.

If only I could turn off "Anxiety". It's crazy how the wonderful human brain function of imagination can work against us in such a self-destructive way that it affects us physically without something actually bad happening. "Its all between your ears" is easy to say, "but what if" keeps trying.

That "007 - First Light" demo was rough. The game design itself, combining Hitman style infiltration with Bond style action and car chases is neat. But there was a LOT of motion blur, bad performance, stiff looking animations and odd physics. It also feels a bit more like a Mission Impossible game?

Tomorrow is Silksong release day. Though I'm personally not interested in the game (yet), it's always interesting to see these almost "mythical" releases finally happening. But unlike Duke Nukem Forever, Silksong's dev time was all about delivering on a worthy successor and taking the time to do so.

MGS Delta is basically a PS5 Demon's Souls style remake. Which means the entire "skeleton" of the game including world geometry, gameplay mechanics, animations and voice acting is from the original game but using UE5 for visuals. For games that kind of blurs the line between a remake and remaster.

Those are some high tier tax garbage haulers. But at least they're doing something useful now?

Watched the first three episodes of #AlienEarth. It's ok so far, if a bit odd at times. There's fan service and more 1979 set- and interface designs. But it also has a few new ideas that keep me curious as it's going somewhere new. Something Romulus did not do. Don't like the pop music end songs.

I had some weird visual glitches yesterday and stuff like that scares me a bit. The one big thing that could ruin this project is the game suffering increasing issues do due feature/content bloat. But today I made a working dialog system. The last of the big technical features for this project.
