It took almost 3 months but my subconscious now allows me to see my dog Gretzky (who passed on Aug. 31) in my dreams almost every night. It is so bizarre how the mind, and grief works. No matter how much you try and manipulate it, healing just takes time. Miss you, buddy!

Gretzky was my best friend from the moment that I rescued him in 2012 from an Atlanta Humane Society shelter, when he puked and shaat all over my Honda Accord Coupe all the way to my midtown apartment. He had motion sickness that lasted for years. Gosh, I wished that I had a better phone!

End of life care and euthanasia for our pets is one of the hardest things for us to even think about. Lap of Love Veterinary Hospice care via Dr. Craig Lewis let Gretzky pass on with peace and professionalism. Dr. Lewis was amazing, gentle, professional, and had my best friend pass with peace.

It was love at first sight and I’ll continue to love Gretzky until the end of my days. Named after the Great One, Gretzky sure lived up to his name. Until we meet again, buddy. You were the best dog a man could ever have.
