#writingcommunity I've come to a point where I need to figure some things out, and the biggest thing right now is political discussions. Right now, I don't weigh into them because as a writer, I want every reader I can get. The last thing I want is to be cancelled for my political views.

Today my patio becomes my office. The sun's shining, there's a Song Sparrow singing in the tree to my left. And I'm on Scribophile, critiquing. I even got a bit of writing done this morning. #writingcommunity

Tomorrow's Father's day. I picked up Weekend At The Lake to see if I can make some progress, and I'm reading through. There's a scene between Peter and Timmy where father and son are interacting. It's tense. And I can't help but think of my own stepfather, gone three years now.

One author that I really like is Janette Oke. Reading her Love Comes Softly series (don't laugh!), I'm noticing something. In both of her Canadian West series, she tells the reader where the books are set (and they're all real towns, except maybe for Coal Valley). (1/2)

I was just thinking back to my teenage years. I was about 16. I'd started writing a story that I didn't really have any plans for, I was just writing it, as an escape, imagining my life being different, and writing it down. Somehow my stepdad found out, and used it against me.
