The landscape for academic publishing is rugged. How does #PeerReview really work? What is #OpenAccess, #DORA or #PlanS? How do they affect my research and my career? I’ve developed a workshop intended to support early-career researchers as they find their own answers and their own way. Have a look!

I’m deeply concerned about the state of academic publishing. Incentives clearly work and the wrong incentives have been put in place – by universities, research councils, politicians. We have to help early-career researchers figure out how to navigate this crazy landscape.

PhD candidates need a guidebook to understand the academic journal system. They need good ways to think through dilemmas and challenges about #OA, #DORA, #plan-s, CC-BY and much much more. I’m writing that book. It will be done by Easter. Should I do it publicly? How? LinkedIn? Substack others?
